(More customer reviews)The Prestige Hard Drive "SuperSpeed USB 3.0" is a relatively compact hard drive (though also a bit heavy). I have an iMac running OS X 10.6.7. Its main (internal) hard drive recently died after only 18 months from purchase. I already had an external hard drive for backups (thank goodness), but the recent drive failure made me consider additional measures. I read a suggestion from a friend to get a 2nd hard drive for "redundant backups." I will use this Prestige unit for that purpose. It was relatively easy to install and configure, although the "back up now" option does not come up by clicking on the drive icon, the way it does with my main backup drive. I had to manually activate backing up via Time Machine. The unit comes with 256-bit encryption, but the manual contains this statement: "The encryption management software is not supported for Mac OS X." So I did not attempt to activate the encryption, and am deducting a rating point for that issue.
