(More customer reviews)This is definitely a handy device: small footprint, powered USB ports, and no troubles with the drive misbehaving. The problem is the noise. I have this hooked up to an iMac that is always running, and even when the computer is sitting idle, the enclosure's fan is constantly revving up, as often as every few minutes. After several months, it's become so distracting that I've begun looking for a replacement. This might not be an issue for other users; you may have a noisier workspace, a quiet nook you can shove the enclosure in, or maybe you're just not bothered by fan noise. But for me, when you have a computer that's already nearly silent, having a hard drive constantly whirring away is pretty irksome.
